The following are meeting minutes for two meetings we held to prepare for the trip. There were many more than this, but I don't think there's any point putting them up. Email, of course, was the best way of staying in touch, especially since one of the cyclists (Phil) was on workterm in another city.
We met at 2:30 on March 19th.
Updates:
Nat- we made $52.50 from pizza yesterday (yay!). $110 so far. Two
more sales next week, Tues (Nat in charge) and Thurs (Dave).
Dave-'starting to swim' (what a stupid expression) on bike stores.
There's a secondhand store in Vancouver recommended, will check
it out (Sarah). John can help Dave re: bike stores. We need
3 or 4 bikes.

shirts or shorts: $45-60
Royal Bank at Westmount and Univ for account--Sarah and Nat
Should he look into tips on eating and nutrition? Waterfilter?
John-Temperature chart. Cold in Rockies (under 0) in May.
Itinerary done, 38 biking days at leisurely pace.
Me- Fundraising dinner on June 18th or 19th, silent auction during
the dinner, potential guest speaker, being mostly run by Feds.
Fundraising barbecue, noon June 19th (after math convocation)
at Fed hall.
Dinner being arranged by Vancouver people to launch trip, now
set for April 30th.
Dhan-International Hostel card $26.50
ISIC card $15 (cost of picture not incl)
Timeframe:
Dave is setting April 27th as when he can leave for Vancouver,
unless something happens with this guy from Africa (long story)
We are all committed to May 1st, May 4th the latest we want to
leave, May 10th the latest we can leave.
Car:
We figured out car costs would come out to $75 each if we took it.
We will figure out base costs plus proportion on top of that next
meeting. Ben and Phil to discuss how set they are against having
a car.
Next meeting:
Fri, Mar 26th, same damn time, same damn place, same damn engineers.
We met on Friday, March 26th at 4:30pm
Updates:
-Dhananjai:
bake sale not a go
gave list of bike places in Vancouver to Dave.
-Natalie:
We've raised about $200 in pizza sales so far (yay!)
Press releases are out (KW Record has replied with many questions)
-John:
Worked on itinerary--book says don't go thru N. Ontario-->US better
By main highways thru US, 4km longer. By backroads, less then 100 more
-Ben:
Updated site
Asked for webspace from FEDS
-Dave:
Looking for bike stores (he and John to get on this more next week)
Invitations to formal and BBQ dinner made up for Math Grad Ball
Training schedule (later in agenda)
-Me:
Logo, email address, band for formal dinner fixed up
Pledge form soon to come from FOG (one of the charities)
fundraising BBQ turning into a Math Faculty sponsored event
Have meeting with potential guest speaker for formal dinner next week
Car:
Everyone ok with driving, and with paying (in a scaled way) for car.
Phil requested Dinosaur thing, wants to put gear in car, thinks we
should stick together when biking rather than split up, climate in Rockies?
Everyone ok with above, and general consensus is that we will just
have to deal with the cold in the Rockies.
Transportation to Vancouver:
Everyone ok for billeting, Nat and Dhananjai and Sarah will request
spots from Sarah's contacts in Vancouver, maybe have everyone stay at
same place for final night just to be ready to leave together.
Sarah, Nat, and Dhananjai to drive the car, all others have their
own way figured out. Drive by Kenora to pick up John's gear. Ben to
get his bikerack for Nat.
Training:
Dave explained his training sheet (maybe this can be put on the web,
Ben?) Decision to go for trip to Elora and back on Sunday, then 90k
next weekend.
Going Forward:
Stuff to do--figure out camping gear. Can get some stuff from
Outer's club. Next meeting we will find out what we still need.
Next Meeting:
Friday, April 2nd.
