"NEWS OF THE PROJECTS
This year we have concentrated on three main projects: Providing scholarships for students at the primary, secondary, and university level, building fuel-efficient wood burning stoves, and building latrines. A total of Q28,860 has been distributed this year in 44 scholarships of varying sizes, although the majority have been in the sum of Q75 monthly. These scholarships benefit 53 students; some are shared among siblings or among individuals in an organized group, such as TIMACH (the only secondary school with Mayan studies) and the committee for the education of girls in Chirijkiak (an aldea near Xela)."
