Our expenses for the trip, which ran from May 1st to June 14th, added up to about $850 per person. This doesn't include the cost of gear, transportation to Vancouver,or liquor. What it does include are the price of gas, food, motel rooms, some miscellaneous repairs to the car, campgrounds, campstove fuel, and other group costs that I can't really think of at the moment. Essentially, it covers pretty much anything we had to pay for during the trip itself. Bear in mind that we didn't especially try to skimp and save (we'd stay at campgrounds as opposed to farmer's fields, for example) but that we were also travelling during the off-season for tourism in BC (so some of the places we stayed at were half-price).
What I'm saying is that our costs may not be typical, but they're something to go on when you're budgeting. We actually budgeted a very conservative $1,500 per person for the trip just to make sure that everyone would be ready to deal with an expensive journey.
